Pandemic Influenza


Course Overview:

This course explains what pandemic influenza is and what employers need to know regarding their responsibilities and the impact it could have on the workplace. It also explains what you can do to reduce the risk of exposure and outbreak in the workplace.

Course Objectives:

Upon completion of the program, participants will be able to:

  • Explain what influenza is, and the differences between seasonal flu and pandemic influenza
  • Understand what can be done to avoid catching and spreading influenza  
  • Know what to do if you think you have contracted influenza
  • Understand the potential impact of a pandemic event on Canadian workplaces
  • Know what is involved in a pandemic influenza hazard assessment process
  • Know where influenza is more likely to occur in the workplace
  • Know how to reduce the risk of catching influenza
  • Understand the most effective way to reduce exposure in the workplace
  • Understand the importance of cleaning and decontamination controls
  • Know what types of training should be provided by employers
  • Understand how employers can prepare for an influenza outbreak 


Evaluation Process:

At the end of each module, there is a test. Participants that do not achieve 100% can review the module content and try as many times as necessary to complete the course. Test questions are randomly selected from a test bank, making each test unique. 

Upon successfully completing all modules, there is a printable certificate for your records.
